Q. What do you think your room says about you?
- I think you captured me in my room at a transitional time in my life (I'm still evolving). I feel like it represents a past self that was really into Star Wars, but other than that, if you look around my room it's pretty simple. I'm not that materialistic, and I never liked this room I occupy. It was my brothers before and it carries heavy memories. (He's alive, it's just weird memories)
Q.Do you think your future room will have the same qualities as your room now?
- Yes. I love posters. I just wish I could afford them. I also have an altar set up, so I'm definitely taking that to my future room. I also envision my future room to have more sunlight, so I can finally have more plant friends in my living space rather than just gardening outside.
Q. In some photographs I may have asked you what items or pieces of your room meant the most to you. Why did you choose those items? What connection do you have with these objects?
-I chose a notebook because it's where I was free to express all my thoughts with no judgement. That's all I ever want in life, no judgment from anyone. That's not realistic so I found a notebook to be free in. It also helps with my racing thoughts because my mind keeps going. I may look quiet in person but my mind is definitely loud.
Q. Did you clean your room before it was photographed? I gave no instruction to clean or prepare your room in any way. If you did choose to clean it why? And if you didn't choose to clean it, how come?
- I actually did....I’m a bit disorganized, so I kind of just put everything in its place.
Q. Are you home often? (if so why?) Do you spend the most time in your room or elsewhere?(if so why?)
- I used to be, but ever since I learned to drive I've been spending my time with our mother nature. I would make constant trips to the beach or hiking trails alone. At one point, I lost most of my friendships, and I found that being in nature is actually all I need.
Q. Would you say you're proud of your room? Do you feel like it suits you well? (alternate question: Do you feel like it is a good representation of who you are/how you project yourself?)
- Definitely not. I've lived in a strict household my whole life, and I've always been afraid to express myself, my room is a representation of that. I have posters now, but when I was in elementary school and wanted to post things up from magazines my parents would rip them down. Why? I'm not sure. I also wish there was more light, my room would be filled with plants.
Q. How do you feel about where you are in life right now? Are you content with how everything is going and how you are portrayed?
- Eh, I'm just living it because it keeps changing courses on me. I'm just happy to be alive and to be able to work with people like Ray. I'm happy to be surrounded by nature and art.
Q. Do you consider yourself a social person, or do you fall somewhere in between social and antisocial? (explain)
- I'm a huge ambivert. I'm not social unless someone speaks to me. It shows me they're actually interested in my weird ass and then I'll be fully comfortable weirding them out.
Q. Why did you want to be a part of this series?
- My first reason is to support Ray in any way I can, I found this to be fun. Secondly, I think this is a very intimate series, although I'm bad at intimacy, I live for things that make me feel.
Q. How do you think you'll react to these photos later on in life?
- Probably just laugh at myself still.
Q. Did you have any following statements about your room? Anything you want people to take away from these photos?
- Please don't ever judge me by what you see. Try having a conversation with me because the person I am is not represented by this room, by my clothes, or the music I listen to. Talk to me and you'll see who I am.
